"Heart of The Barras" My HND Photography Graded Unit 2 Project focuses on "Heart of The Barras". I think this is a fitting name as the Barras Market is all about the people and the community. The style that I am focusing on is Advertising with a bit of reportage capturing the stall holders, their stalls and how people go about their day at the Barras Market in Glasgow. I have been inspired by a variety of Black and White Photographers such as Frederick Trovatten's Black and white style advertising campaigns, to Arnold Newman's Black and white environmental portraits that allow people to see into the model's lives, Norman McCaskill's black and white street photography of the markets in Notting Hill and Portobello Road West London and finally Peter Degnan who I have been the most inspired by as he was a black and white Barras Market photographer in the 1970-1980s. I hope this inspires other photographers in the future.
